The Case Of The Cosmetics

Saturday, September 6th, 2008

Lips sticks, skin cleansers, creams, hair gels and perfumes may hold the promise of giving the user a glowing appearance but they sure have a ‘bloody’ origin. Every day thousands of animals such as guinea pigs, dogs, mice, monkeys and rabbits are drugged, poisoned or maimed under the pretext of testing the safety of cosmetics on these poor animals. In the common eye irritancy tests corrosive chemicals are squirted into the eyes of animals forcibly held immobile, their eyelids kept open with clips. In acute toxicity tests animals are force-fed on huge quantities of creams, detergents and gels, often resulting in the animals bleeding, convulsing with diarrhea, boils and skin eruptions.
